It’s time to come out the closet for I am a representative of the Logical-Intuitive Introvert type, otherwise known as a perceptive Analyst.
Two attitudes dominate my ego: To maintain an understanding of the world and to keep a mind’s eye on the inherent possibilities that rest within.
In reality this equates to the distinct chance that at a social event I will quite happily not get involved, for small talk will be the death of me. With an abundance of self-discipline and control I expect a point to everything.
I prefer social events that have an element of learning so at least my topic of conversation can be on the lines of “did you agree with what was said…?” rather than “enjoying the weather?”.
Of course Socrates, teacher of Plato and Aristotle once said that ‘true wisdom is knowing you know nothing’ which fits in nicely with Constructivism: A Philosophy of Learning.
Traditional learning says you will learn what we perceive to be as the facts which are non-negotiable because we are the teachers and you are blank-etched students to be moulded.
I’m a Constructivist no doubt. I accept that ideas have to be entertained and either assimilated (accepted) into your schema (knowledge base) or accommodated (archived).
Like a typical Enneagram Type 5 (investigator) I have to maintain an understanding of the environment otherwise I can’t function properly.
In Socionics this relates to my base (intellectual) function of Introverted Logic (Ti), the need for everything of interest to make sense.
So, knowledge will keep me content with appreciating how things work. As a natural infopreneur it’s my job to share what I think I know with others for two reasons: 1) To contribute something back into society and 2) as a memory dump for my dominant Ti attitude.
And finally it appears that Socrates was trying to tell me something from his ancient Greek grave:
“My advice to you is to get married: if you find a good wife you’ll be happy: if not, you’ll become a philosopher.”
This ties in with The Golden Rule of Socionics which is to feel first then think about your relationships.
Since I can show characteristics of having a schizoid-like personality I’ll probably need an arranged marriage with someone who can carefully remove my gas mask and reduce my indifference towards the social world!
Think of my dual relation (ESFj) … ahh, I feel ‘cured’ already.
Schizoid personality disorder: the result of an unhealthy INTj or a valid lifestyle that ‘normal’ society subjectively sees as ‘abnormal’ thus producing emotions of fear and perhaps jealously towards a person who usually has an indifference towards intimate relationships with a preference for solitary intellectual pursuits and austere harmony.
Sounds like your typical INTj who hasn’t made sense of his super-id with the help of his dual and vice-versa.
Well whatever your view is — the thing I love about the way Psychiatry classifies disorders is that from an anti-psychiatry or psychology perspective you can use these ‘data sheets’ as reverse reference points for your personal growth!
To conclude though, all social types can be matched with traits or symptoms of personality disorders since Psychiatry and Psychology run side-by-side except with different motivations. See the FAQ page for more information on this topic.
